RogerTango.com - Protect your RF connectors
Protect your RF connectors
Posted on Monday, 3/12/2007

Sooner or later, like it or not, you end up having to put butt connectors in-line. Leaving them exposed to the elements really is not the best option. With an inexpensive bicycle innertube you can cheaply and reliably protect these connections.

A WalMart innertube cost less than $3.

Cut to length with at least 2 inches past the connectors.

Disconnect and slip it on.

Reconnect and adjust so the connectors are dead center in the tube.

Fold and roll the flaps, then secure with zip ties. The advantage to this is not only is it easy and no mess, but you wont have any sticky residu like you would with the connector tape that is sold, or electrical tape either. If you need to get to your connectors again its easy to take off and put back. Ive used this in the past and has lasted 2 years that I know of.
