Radio Shack DX-394 General Coverage Receiver

Before I had my HF ticket, and before I could afford an HF rig, I had a Radio Shack DX-100- That was a piece of junk. Then I got the DX-394, this was a really great receiver! I listend to a lot of SSB and CW QSOs on all the bands. I ran it with about 150 feet of random wire to the High-Z antenna connection and it worked wonderfully! If you just want a receiver, I suggest you look at one of these. They still go for high dollar on ebay with all the mods, but it is not critical to get one with the mods. One without mods goes for a reasonable amount, if you can find one. Most people that have one don’t part with them since they are a very good radio. The Eham reviews do not do it justice, I personally give it a 4.5/5. I think some hard core hams rate it too low expecting it to behave like a $1,000 receiver which is not the case.
